Physical Therapists: ‘First Point-of-Contact’ and Continued…in Worksite Care
August 27, 2025Our founder, Glenda, recently returned from the 2025 World Physiotherapy Congress in Tokyo with renewed energy and a deep sense of excitement for the future of Industrial Therapy. She was honored to participate in the International Federation of Physiotherapists working in Occupational Health and Ergonomics, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the organization as a whole and to Chair Gayline Manalang of The Philippines for leading such an inspiring gathering.
The clinical seminar on Occupational Health Physiotherapy focused on promoting health at work, preventing work-related injuries, and supporting safe and effective return-to-work programs, right in line with KEY Method objectives! Speakers Rose Boucaut of Australia, Claudia Patricia Rojas Silva from Colombia, and Catherine Wambui Wambua of Kenya generated lively and insightful content throughout the session.
Glenda found it exhilarating to be among colleagues who share her passion for having physiotherapists work directly with Employers and Employees to design effective worker care programs!
These presentations provided a clear framework for understanding the global scope of our dynamic field. They outlined delivery options by service and by recipients, and the formal educational components necessary for Occupational Health physiotherapists in their respective organizations. One highlight for Glenda was hearing Rose Boucaut of the University of South Australia Adelaide reference, with full credit, her own KEY Industrial Therapy Worker Care Spectrum, encouraging everyone in the room to photograph it and put it to use.
Later, Gayline Manalang shared that she includes the Spectrum in every graduate class she teaches on occupational rehabilitation and promotes its application in her postgraduate programs!
Glenda also attended the Networking Session on Occupational Health and Ergonomics, co-chaired by Rose Boucaut and Yvonne Van Zannen. She connected with therapists from Thailand, Colombia, Japan, The Philippines, Chile, Canada, and Iceland, each offering unique perspectives on Industrial Therapy shaped by their local contexts. The conversations confirmed that while this field is in high demand worldwide, its practice adapts to the needs of each region.
It is truly an exciting time to be part of Industrial Therapy! If you would like to learn more about the KEY Method and how it is shaping worker care worldwide, reach out to us now. Our field is capturing international attention, prompting incredible growth and creating rewarding careers for Therapists. We would love to share it with you!
